Types of Crops
Hay species can commonly be placed in one of two categories:
Legume
A legume is any plant that grows seeds in a pod such as peas, beans, or alfalfa. Most legumes have the ability to "to fix, or create" nitrogen in nodules on their roots. Here are some examples of some common legumes used for hay.

Grass
A type of plant with jointed stems, slender flat leaves, and spike-like flowers such as corn and wheat. Here are some examples of some common grasses used for forage.
